I love the colour and movement found in African fabrics. I have travelled to many different parts of Africa and I always loved the way the women manage to wear beautiful bright colours. They mix and match with great abandon. I have tried to mimic this in my Odyssey quilt pattern.
You don’t need to use African fabric, Kaffe Fassett is well known for bright and colourful prints— also ideally suited to this design.
I wanted to design a quilt which has a modern feel but also highlights the versatility of the bold print fabric.
Finished quilt size: 45 x 54 inches
Skill Level: new to intermediate
Materials (provided by you):
- 1½ yd. (1.5m) background fabric
- 10-13 fat quarters for triangles (I used 13 in my quilt)
- ½ yd. (50cm) binding fabric
- 3 yds. (3m) border fabric
- Batting 51 x 60 inches
All fabric measurements are based on pre-washed 42-inch wide cotton fabric.
All patterns have been test quilted to ensure accuracy.
