Textile Dyeing Workshops

Join me at one of my textile dyeing workshops

If you follow my Blog or Instagram, you will soon realise that I love experimenting with dyeing my  fabric. Not a week goes by without thinking about ways to create new material for my various projects.

I thought, why not share this knowledge and inspire others to experiment with dyeing their own unique material. It is addictive, at times messy, but in good company, great fun. The results can be unpredictable, but you will often come across a simply fantastic piece. Each piece is unique – all made with your own hands!

These are small group workshops with numbers limited, so plenty of personal attention for all is assured. So why not join me to explore the world of hand-dyeing fabric?

DYEING WORKSHOPS

All of my workshops are with your pre-arranged group. That is, gather a small group of friends or like-minded people (4 minimum) and we will arrange a particular date for your workshop.

Over a weekend, we can usually complete 2-3 types of dyeing. The textile dyeing included may be any combination of :

  • Ice dyeing
  • Eco dyeing
  • Sun dyeing
  • Bleaching

Each workshop includes all materials except gloves, including Saturday and Sunday lunch and morning/afternoon tea/coffee.

Cost: The workshop cost is determined by the classes selected, as the material cost varies for some workshops.

Dates: – arranged to suit

Location: Mansfield, Victoria or possibly at your location. Dyeing is messy, so not all locations are suitable!

Thank you for a great relaxed weekend and I certainly have come away with lots of ideas. I have always wanted to do eco-dyeing but have been a little scared of the process. Leslie you made it seem so easy. Thank you for the food Sarah.

Ice & Eco Dyeing workshop

I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend up at Mansfield and just wanted to say thanks again. What a beautiful place you have there and it’s lovely to see your studio is really making you get more involved in new aspects of quilting.

Your workshop was a triumph – generous, well paced and equipped, lots of sharing of knowledge and little tips that make a difference. I’m quite chuffed with what I produced under your tutelage and the eco imprints have become even clearer with the drying of the fabric.

I really do intend to do more eco dyeing – it combines two great interests for me in a surprising and exciting way.

Ice-dyeing fabric is the art of layering ice and dyes to create textile prints. The process is reasonably straightforward, yet produces amazing results. It definitely has a WOW factor.

Beware, ice-dyeing fabric is very addictive!

The workshop provides you with the basics that you can expand on further.

How about Eco-Dyeing?

Raw material for eco-dyeing

Eco-dyeing uses vegetation from the environment to transfer shape and colour onto fabric. In this workshop, you experience the entire process of collection, preparation, steaming, washout and viewing your creations.

Eco-dyeing produces pieces that have a range of wonderful subtle shapes and colours.
