My quilting friends know that I like to experiment with hand-dyed fabric and using the pieces more non-traditionally. At the Vic Quilters Showcase 2023 this year, I entered a quilt of my design made entirely from Turtle Hand hand-dyed batik fabrics.
Fortunately, the judges also liked my quilt, understood the thought that went into it and subsequently placed a highly commended rosette onto it.

Oh, I like this! 😍
I zoomed in to see if I could figure out how you assembled the quilt – parts of it look like crazy quilting, other parts seem more like traditional patchwork, and other parts as if they have been mounted on a backcloth (forgive my English – it is not my first language). Can you shed some light on this? 😊
Hi Diba, Apologies, I just saw this comment. I’m so glad you like my quilt. It took me quite a long time to finish because it is all handstitched.
Each color section is made on a sheer background fabric. Pieces of fabric are pinned to the background then stitched using sashiko thread. The fabrics are all hand dyed from Malaysia. After completing the five colorways, i sewed it all onto the gray background. I didn’t put any batting into it.
Hope this helps.
Cheers, Leslie
